How to read this OP
Welcome to my OP4 Passive Solar Panel!
Here I explain the structure of this report and how to to navigate it. In the page header you will find the general contents of the page you are on. Navigate through the pages either by the tabs at the top of the page, or the navigation menu at the bottom (click arrow on right of menu to unhide).
The following page (ii) Title and Summary, summarizes what the project is, my principle goals and the purpose of this report. The next five pages are the Core report, which includes (in order): a detailed outline of the Core reports' pages, the terminology/abbreviations used in this report, project context, the process of designing/building the panel, documents showing how the technology works, project interventions, my design process and methods, the outcomes for; me personally, the project, my professional advancement, and the political and patrix effects. The Core report finishes with my annotated resources. Following that is my commentary, which is the behind-the-scenes look at my learning pathway and how this cycle has impacted it.
This report has links in the text (underlined), these links will tell you where they lead. The target of the link will be at the very top of the page it brings you to. After visiting one of these links press the back button in your browser to continue where you left off. External links will open a new window. All links will bring you into greater detail of the report but are not essential to understand the project.
Thank you for taking the time to read this report, I hope you enjoy it!
How I have incorporated feedback
Main Advisor's comments in bold
"Your introduction was lacking in setting the stage for the report. Remember that your core report should be readable and understandable from start to finish." - To address this I researched writing introductions, summaries and conclusions (see annotated resources) and used an outline to lay it out. I wrote the introduction, summary and conclusion last, going back and forth between the three to ensure I was being consistent and covering all my bases.
"You do articulate your design method of choice but don't say whether you considered other options. Also, you state that it was a good choice for you but you don't say why." - I explain why I chose the frameworks I did and outline why they helped. I also explain that my lack of experience in using design frameworks is being flexed by reflecting on my actual process.
"I would love to know if you used any design principles in the actual micro-projects." This was one of my main goals in my outline. To meet this goal I created an index of design principles and linked text from the core report to their corresponding principle.
"It would also be good to know if you did research on best practices for leadership and/or teaching. This might be a good place to look into other Ops on these subjects. Dig deeper to find this knowledge and validate it so it is useful to others." - This was another of my main goals I identified in my outline and addressed it by referencing my sources throughout the report including other OPs. I also created a strong annotated resource page.
"I wanted to know what your goals and evaluations were, not just that you had completed that part of the design." - From the summary to the core report I make a clear outline of my goals for the project and the report and evaluated my accomplishments and their impacts on myself and my spheres of influence.
"I would like to see more reflection between your projects so you can use the learning from one in the next one." - I discuss how my OP3 skillflexing helped me work with the client as an active-follower and leader.
"what were your specific learning goals for each project and how did you design your experiences to meet them?" I discuss how understanding the design process was a major goal for me and how prototyping and outlining were used to meet this goal.
"I would like to know more about what you learned about teaching and leadership through these projects." - Going over my OP3 I realized I left my bullet list of unlearnings in the un/learning journal section, this time I replicated my OP4 bullet list from unlearning journals into the core report.
