Managing Time and Promises
To manage my time and to reach my intended goals I used a System which I designed in my LIPD. I tried to plan a month and then break the tasks into weekly and daily tasks. In the beginning of each months I created a Monthly Tracking System with SMART goals. Because I did not want to have my plan only on my computer I additionally created a Monthly Design that I can print out (click here to see my monthly Design of the month June). With the help of my monthly designs I created daily designs. Each evening I planned the tasks for the next day and in the evening of the next day I reflected about my reached goals and wrote up my daily design for the next day (See some of my daily designs on the PDF below).
When I reflect about my tracking systems I am partly satisfied. The monthly tracking system with SMART goals was really very helpful! It was a great experience to decide in the beginning of a months what SMART goals to reach and on what topic to focus on. The only thing I would do differently the next time is to outline more specific SMART goals and spend even more time on planning the months. The printed out version of my monthly design was not that helpful as I thought in the beginning, because it was to unspecific. Next time I would directly print out my Smart goals for the months.
With the daily design I have made positive and negative experiences. Often the designs were very helpful because they helped me to reach my goals and balance my working day. In the daily design I included all activities I want to do during a day, including things to read/research, exercises for body and soul, GaiaU activities, additional activities and a reflection part for the evening. Sometimes it was challenging to plan the next day, because often spontaneous change occurred. It is also very challenging to assess the time I need for a specific task and often it took longer than I planned in the beginning. I ended up in the end to only design my days where I had a lot of free space and no additional activities. I will use the daily design for my future projects, but I will re-design my template and let it more open so that I can adapt my tasks with higher flexibility.
With the help of my tracking systems I managed to reach my main promises in time. I had a lot more goals I wanted to reach during the project, but time went too fast. I recognized that one learning edge for me is to assess how many goals I can reach in how much time and how deep I want an insight to the topic.
Honestly I have to say that in the end it was a little stressful, because I was busy with building our Tiny House and write the OP. And when my midwife recommended to slow down and enter a deeper state of relaxation I had some doubts that I will manage to submit my OP in time, but in the end I managed it.
The time I got pregnant
Interventions and their timing
When I got pregnant (in February 2017) my boyfriend and me were busy with finding an appropriate future place for us to live. We travelled, researched and connected to people. It was a very open time, I was in the process of writing my LIPD and we had no clear future plans. The pregnancy helped us both to set priorities and be more efficient with future decisions.
It was the year after we stayed one Year in the community “Lebensgarten Steyerberg”, where I had the other other day nice talks with women about giving birth. Afterwards I recognize that these conversations were very valuable for me and I imprinted the messages in my subconsciousness. I am convinced that being pregnant and giving birth is such a natural process that it felt like an aurochs task. So I would say it was a very favourable time to get pregnant, because our life was so open and from that time we had a significant factor to design our live around and that shaped mainly our future plans. Sure at the same time one can argue that it was not a privileged time to get pregnant, because our life was and still is very uncertain. I mean we have no home place yet. But I have written more about that on the page "Personal Story" in the section “dealing with uncertainty”.
