Project Specifications
Project #1 - Online Learning and Project Management Tool
Inspired by many of the learning theories and techniques I discovered here in the Gaia U orientation, as well my own experience and research in education, I am developing an online tool that will help others learn more effectively in this age of information-overload. The idea will be pitched for funding to a program here called Start-Up Chile. I believe the final product will be of value to Gaia U community members and others looking to increase their skills and knowledge for the future.
My goals for OP2 are to document the planning and design phases, prototype my idea, receive feedback from within the Gaia U community and prepare the project for application to the program later in the year. I am confident by doing so I will maximize my chances of successfully receiving the needed support to get this project off the ground. I will also include a focus within the OP on increasing my project management skills and insights/documentation from another online course I am currently taking called "E-learning Ecologies" from the University of Illinois, which will entail an overview of modern learning and explore some specific models in-depth.
Project #2 - Campo Master Plan
This project will include the entire design process from beginning to end, finishing with a master plan for the 185-acre farm. I intend to familiarize myself intimately with the nuts and bolts of the Permaculture design process and to deliver a professional-caliber product, building my skills and experience as well as kickstarting my portfolio for future paid jobs.
The model I have chosen to use for this process is GoSADIE (or up through the design element for the OP). Since I am fairly new to design especially at this scale, I've chosen to map tasks according to the formula so to speak. Having said that, I recognize the inevitability of making adjustments based on existing needs and priorities and acknowledge the flexibility required from the onset.
As this is the start of a massive project that will include an endless number of projects within, I recognize the possibility of the following to change form as the design shifts into an implementation phase. Because I cannot be sure of the timing of this, I have laid out a research-based project of great interest to me below.
Project #3 - Patterns Research / Book and Website
For me the most fascinating element in Permaculture is the study of patterns. I feel as though I've been admiring them my entire life and I have a strong interest in deepening my understanding in this area. Through my own research, I have discovered a surprisingly underdeveloped realm of human knowledge.
This project will include writing and publishing a book/ebook and/or website (or may be integrated with the platform developed in project #1) about how energy is organized and manifested into what we experience as the physical universe through vibrational frequencies, and how we as designers might incorporate this knowledge into sustainable system design and zone 0 application. This is a broad and at times technical subject with an observed lack of accessible material.
I believe I can make a worthwhile contribution to the existing sustainability conversation here, and aim to create content that can be easily integrated into other projects and worldviews. Some areas of research have and will include cymatics, string theory, cosmometry, sacred geometry, sympathetic vibratory physics and others.

Project Plans
For each of the 3 projects I have created detailed plans below, highlighting step-by-step tasks with expected completion dates. By following this plan and making a commitment to each task, my goals for the first year of my Gaia University experience will be met. With the publication of this OP I am making said commitment to myself and the others within my community.

Project #1 Task List
Purchase pro review and advising from Andrew and/or other Gaia staff members and reach out to network for more in-depth feedback. Intensify search for partners.
Write initial draft of Start-Up Chile app, identify weak points and reach out to network to strengthen them.
Design pitch video.
Completion date: 6 Dec 2014
Edit and finalize pitch video for Start-Up Chile
Submit application to Start-Up Chile
Document short, medium and long term goals for the project.
Create, distribute and collect data from online survey, create mindmap of support network, do a SWOT analysis
Due date for Coursera Case Study
Analyze survey data and compile, identify needs within support network and reach out to extended network, look to specific people for deeper feedback, list required elements - inputs (needs) and outputs (products and behavior)
