Participation records and Digiphon

The purpose of this page is to tell how my Gaia U meetings helped to shape my path, while providing the notes I have taken during this cycle. The Digiphon is a technical documentation which tells which hardware, software and websites I used to create this OP.

Guild and advisor outcomes

After having had many guild buddies I have found one who is steady, reliant and helpful. My guild work with Charles has been a highlight of the year. I feel being in a close proximity also has its benefits of feeling connected. I see our work is overlapping and through our meetings we are benefiting each other. Thank you Charles!

I was looking to have another Guild meeting, so I reached out to Liam as we had talked on the OP Support call.

My work with my main adviser has been one of finding my learning needs and learning the processes of Gaia U. She has been a great support and leader pushing me to go deeper and reach further. I am grateful to have this guidance and receptivity, thank you Saskia!

Skillflex Advisor meetings

The skillflex meetings I have had with Zev Friedman of Permaculture in Action have been the catalysis for the vision of my next cycle. Permaculture in Action is a business which gives affordable hands-on permaculture training while implementing a contracted design (with the students) also for an affordable price. This is a model I would like to use for my business in Vermont. Our meetings have been full of yields, connections and visions of bio-regional centers. The idea of writing a language pattern or (white paper) for teaching permaculture came from the idea of Zev´s to make a Permaculture Listening project. I am very grateful for his passion for the movement and his dedication to being a mentor, thank you Zev!

As a continuation of this I have started talking with Uma from P.I.N.E. see our attached correspondence below. I have also started my research on how to write a pattern (see Supporting evidence right column).

Digiphon

This OP was created on a Macintosh. The text was created in TextEdit saved as plain text and copied and pasted into Mahara. The font is Comic Sans MS (14). All photos were taken with my iPhone 4 saved as a jpg and imported at 50 kg to Mahara.

To create images for the page headers I used Adobe Photoshop. To create the document windows; OP5 outline, OP5 timeline of un/learnigns, and Gaia Orientation I created the document in Mac Pages (and numbers), exported it as a PDF and uploaded it to slideshare.net, copied the html code and inserted it as external media into the Mahara pages. The table of contents, OP5 timeline and acceleration mindmaps were created in xMind, uploaded to xmind.com and embedded as external media into Mahara. All other embedded mindmaps were created on iThoughts on iPhone emailed as a .xmind files and then downloaded to a computer and uploaded to xmind.com. The design framework image was created with Mac Pages and then I took a screen shot with Grab saved as a jpg and uploaded at under 50kb to Mahara. The embedded RSS feeds of bookmarks were created with with Xmarks.com. The photo albums on the supporting evidence page are hosted by Google, I upload my photos direct with Web Albums iPhone app.

Op Support call

The OP Support call on Gaia Radio facilitated by Jennifer English is a great time to reconnect with my peers. I use this time to speak about challenges I am having in my OP work and to share best practices. Having this support is essential on this path of self-directed learning.

Acceleration meeting

This call I had with Jennifer English was very informative on the process and requierments for taking an accelerated program. I begun the process of this work (see mindmap of meeting notes below).
