Cover letter

To whom it may concern,

My focus of interest is being actively involved in the lives of youth with an Outdoor Education background.  As listed on my resume, I have had extensive experience working with children and working outdoors.

Working with our youth has encouraged me to creatively apply my knowledge and skills. I am consistently imagining new solutions working with children: observing, collaborating, designing, planning and then sharing the knowledge by giving them tools that would aid their personal growth. I want to teach children how leadership is in all aspects of life.  Support them while they learn how to support themselves and others. Most importantly, encourage them to be who they are and find what they’re passionate about.

The outdoors is my passion, whether it be working, or for pleasure. I have gained so many technical skills from my hobbies of; climbing, backpacking, kayaking, etc. and I want to instill them into a working environment.  These activities open you up to be vulnerable and encourage you to push edges.  Pushing edges has become a big part of my life, and my motivation to create a challenging and meaningful work experience.

Similar to my goals, my recent job experience had been focused on connecting a variety of ages with adventure/outdoor education in South/Central Wisconsin. I was able to nurture people’s natural curiosities in the world around them and educate them on the importance of contributing to their environment. I served to provide a hands-on approach, with lots of movement, and activity.

It is my hope to build upon my knowledge base as well as contribute my skills that enable me to utilize my talents. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Jensen Buehler

Professional, political, patrix skills

Professional, political and patrix goals

Professional:
I would like to focus on gaining my Teaching English as a second language certificate so I can move over-seas.  I also will focus on learning French by using an application called Duolingo.  I will also label things around my house and start watching episodes in French.  I want to learn French to help my chances of moving abroad and finding a job.  I would also like to focus on Urban Ecology for my Capstone year as much as possible.  I want to attend educational workshops throughout the year through the Permaculture Guild in Madison, and Transition Madison Area.

Political:
I don't really like to bring up politics to others because it tends to get heated.  I come from a family with very different views and politics are usually brought up in an oppressive way and I tend to become submissive.  I vote, and I am passionate about what I value and I compassionate towards the person I vote for but in the end I am just grateful that I have a voice and a chance to vote.  It's safe to say I will keep majority of my political views out of my professional and educational work.

Patrix:
Discrimination and black rights has been smothering the news (rightfully so) in the United States lately.  It has brought a lot to my attention that I haven't really had to understand or witness being caucasian and living in a time where there had been great head-way of integration for African-Americans into our lives.  It has made me realize it is still about race and it's always been about race and that is something I would like to see myself look past as well as my community.  I want to do what I can to support everyone of any color and gender in my life.
