Annotated Bibliography
"Anahata." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 12 Jan. 2014. Web. 01 Dec. 2014.
Wikipedia can sometimes not be the best resource to go off of for research. In this instance I looked at the references associated with the article and they seemed to be valid. I used this specific article for the creation of my design method.
Buehler, Jensen M. "Online Diagram Software to Draw Flowcharts, UML & More."Creately. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Dec. 2014.
Creately is an amazing website with a variety of graphic features. I found it after my Skill-flex session with Ava when I had committed to making more visual diagrams in my output packets. It has been helpful to create mind-maps, and other flowcharts. I recommend this program to anyone even though I am only using the free-trial it has far exceeded my expectations.
Scott-Kemmis, Judy. "Meaning of Colors in Color Psychology." Empowered By Color. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Dec. 2014.
I focused on the psychology of color during the creation of my design method. I designed my diagram by hand and used colors to color it in- the colors all had a specific meaning that I felt coincided with the task they were associated with. Judy Scott-Kemmis has been working with colors for years and I felt her to be very personable and reliable.
Tartakovsky, M. "9 Ways to Reduce Anxiety Right Here, Right Now." Psych Central.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 02 Dec. 2014.
I used this page to incorporate my ideas in reducing my anxiety. I would suggest others to go to Tartakovksy's work to read if they also suffer from anxiety. The material all felt relatable and useful.
Conclusion
Next steps and new goals: I will continue working on my project outputs so I can submit my first project output by January 1st. I will also continue to work on my personal goals and hold my self accountable by checking in with my plan and task tools on mahara frequently. I will also observe the implementation of my new Learning metrics to see how it seems to be working for me. I have also been in contact with 2 Gaia Associates, Simha and Patrick, for peer connections. I will set up a date with both of them to skype and forage connections as well as work on collaborations.
Learning Journal Entry
1. What did you learn in relation to OP creation and pathway engagement?
I have learned that the design process is one of the most important factors of creating an output. I have also learned that developing a design process is so much fun! I got really into the design process of this one and felt like I did a lot of thinking and evaluating before coming up with the right design process for me and this output.
2. How well have you refined your ability to set and meet goals that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievalble, Realistic and Timely)?
My goals have been SMART and I have used mahara to help me document my goals in a way that I can check in. By using the plans and task section on mahara I have created a lot of lists and tasks for my specific goals. I have chosen to do this for personal and project goals for my Capstone year.
3. Report on your overall ability to give, receive and incorporate feedback.
It has been helpful to have a few different reviews and feedback from wrapping up my pre-capstone year. I have utilized this feedback to the best of my ability and have incorporated it into my LIPD.
4. Report on your overall capacity to disseminate your work.
I feel like it has been easier and will continue to be easier to disseminate my work in my local community by getting them involved and hands on with my projects. I have already done a few things that have been successful and supported by my community and I already have a few more things planned in the near future throughout my Capstone year.
