On this page I present a cumulative timeline of my pathway including, OP submission, pauses and intended presentations or events. Then I shortly declare my overall topic with learning intentions and goals for the year. I present three more detailed projects which I want to document in my next three OPs. The page ends with presenting my tracking tools and action steps I want to use for my pathway, personal and project work.

Timeline

My projects and OPs

The big project for the Year is called:
"Holistic Life Design during pregnancy, birth and during the first months with a baby"

Where do I want to build expertise?

  • natural processes during pregnancy and birth and how to assist them in a natural way
  • baby care and handling in the first year
  • gynaecology and paediatrics (focus on pregnancy and time beyond → mother and child)

What are my overall goals?

  • design an blog (schwanger-einfachfroh.de) containing a lot of holistic treatments, tips and knowledge for pregnancy, childbirth and being a parent
  • implement as much theory as I can and integrate it in my every-day life
  • build expert knowledge in the area of pregnancy, birth and the time beyond
  • learn the basis of a natural health professional with the focus on woman and children/babies
  • visit a course to deepen my knowledge in one certain direction

I decided to design for each content-related OP one specific project which fits in my current life circumstances and where I want to learn more. To read a more detailed project description, please open the document "detailed project design".

OP2 - Pregnancy and Birth

The first project related OP will document a project on natural pregnancy and birth. My vision for this project is that I can experience a holistic, natural and conscious pregnancy and childbirth by myself and that other expectant mothers and fathers can take a benefit from my researches and experiences.
In the world of safety and medical progress, pregnant woman become often treated like a sick person. Many woman lost their trust to feel, if their baby is well. They trust the ultrasound and the pictures that they see.  For me being pregnant and giving birth means giving new life. That is something unbelievable, natural, spiritual and wonderful! I think as a pregnant woman you should enjoy this unique time and support all changes with deep consciousness by assisting your body, mind and soul with appropriate rituals, practices and techniques.

OP3 - Time after birth

In the second project related OP I want to document the time after birth.I want to show holistic methods and treatments for mother, the baby and the father for an easy and healthy start as a family.

It is my aim to assist mother, father and child during the time after birth to find closer together and strengthen the bond between them. It is a very exceptional and new time in life where two loving people meet a new person they need and want to care for. The offers for babies in our current culture are huge and I want to inspire people what babies really need and what is in a holistic way good for them.

Project goals OP3 (optional)

  • Emotional goals: positive, warming, loving and calm attitude. Feel the connection and relationship between us as family.
That will help me to fulfil the goal:

  • Mental goals: As soon as we can manage the ever-day life with the baby I want to have focused time to work.
That will help me to fulfil the goal:
→ clear structure of the day (what can I do when the baby is sleeping?)
→ weekly goals and predefined tasks
  • Spiritual goals: Consider the baby as absolute, as a creation that has everything it needs and is close to the cosmic world. Bring the baby close to nature!
That will help me to fulfil the goal:
→ Observe the baby and treat it like an adult human being (e.g. talk to it in a normal voice; show him/her the world, but don’t explain much)
→ Find some rituals in nature for the baby

OP4 - Natural gynaecology and paediatrics

The last content related OP is thought to dive deeper in natural gynaecology and paediatrics with a focus on phytotherapy. I want to learn the basics of natural medicine and actively experiment with different methods and techniques. This project is thought to be the basis to decide, if I want to develop further in the field as a natural health professional. It is my vision to become in a few years a natural health professional with the focus on woman and children/babies. To get a little closer to this longterm vision I want to gain a general overview about natural medicine and its treatment and philosophy.

Action Steps for Projects

To work on my projects with more clarity and focus I predefined the topics I want to learn more about. Therefore I created an excel sheet where I collected all Action Steps (click to read it) I want to undertake for a certain project. I thought they are already very specific, but after my Skill-flex advising call with Nicole Vosper about "Project Design and Management" (see notes of the call in the document "Skill-flex-advising, Nicole Vosper") I got more clear what SPECIFIC means.  Therefore I created after the call another more specific excel sheet with some of my Action Steps for project one. This is at the same time a tracking tool. To learn more about my tracking methods just see the section below called "My Tracking System". Nevertheless in a detailed design phase in the beginning of my first project I want to refine my Action Steps and SMART-goals strategically.

Tracking System

Inspired by Nicole Vosper I will categorize and subdivide my Action Steps into functions (goals), systems (how to achieve the goals) and elements (individual steps and smart goals).  I started to create an excel sheet where I can write down the goals of the month (function), how I could achieve the goal (system) and specifically name my SMART goals (element) for the month. Here you can find my "monthly tracking system with SMART goals".  I will work it out in greater detail as soon as I enter the design phase of my first project.

Also inspired by Nicole Vosper I created  a monthly design sheet. In the beginning of a month I write down all my goals events and to-does for the months. I will tick off all tasks I carried out successfully. To view my monthly design template, please click here. To track my daily doings with more effort  and strategy I decided to create a day design. The document "daily design" should be used to reflect about the day in the evening and then defining new goals for the next day.

To track my skills during the year I created a simple excel document "tracking of skills" where I can add all skills I gained, write a comment on what I specifically learned and assess how satisfied I am.

Dissemination efforts:
In addition I will document and track my project and process work on our German blog (schwanger-einfachfroh.de). This way I can share my outcomes with a wider area. On the blog I will regularly post in articles, ideas and inspirations, about my project work, for other people to read and for myself to document.

Conclusion

In conclusion I can say that I think the LIPD has fulfilled its function of designing a clear structure for the year, defining my projects, learning intentions and goals. I now clearly know how I will track and document my projects.
Another very pleasant point is that I used the Dragon Dreaming for my purposes successfully. I know I am on a good way to grow personally as a designer. Also if I needed a long time to produce this OP, I feel that it was necessary to get clear about my life, the circumstances and possibilities. I had the possibility to reflect again deeper about the first year, uncover challenges and find new solutions.
During this OP production I had weeks where I was not able to write anything and I had weeks where I worked very motivated and effectively. The book " The monk who sold his ferrari" I have to thank for, it helped me to holistically design my day and stay motivated at least for big part of time.
Now I am curious how a more fixed project plan with predefined topics and goals will itself turn out in the end of the year.
