GAIA U LATINA
Team: Javiera -and the rest of El Manzano crew-, Liora, Andrew, Beatriz and me.
The first step of the team is to create a work plan, including priorities, roles, timeline and economic agreements about translation hours to be redeemed as amates inside the Gaia U system
For the translation work I will get guidance from Silvia Murillo, a very dear and good friend of mine who has been translating from English into Spanish the main documents, texts, books and web page materials from the International Network of the Dances of Universal Peace and the Sufi Ruhaniat Inernational.
Also will use a combination of e-resources and hard old style dictionaries.
For the enrichment and adaptation of materials I will focus mainly on the materials available in the alternative networks in Latin America, from practical stuff to theoretical and philosophical pieces.
My goal will be to gather a comprehensive menu of fruitful movements, processes, networks and models emerging from the roots of our culture and nations. From the Cuban food and health sovereignty, to the zapatistas autonomy, from the Brazilian and Argentinian solidarity economies to the Sumak Kawsay or Andean Well being.
And from that menu, select few enlightening writings eligible to become Gaia U Latina books components -as done beautifully by Andrew and his guest world speakers in the current books.
ECOVILLAGE INCUBATOR
Team: C.A.S.A continental board, RENACE -Colombian network- board, EDE Colombia coordination Team, Gaia Education Latinoamerica -Ulises-, Javiera, Liora, Andrew, Beatriz and the PhD student Marta Chavez and her team.
The EDE process is being and will be supported by a coordination team which includes representatives from the 3 ecovillages hosting the course, a logistic coordinator and an academic coordinator.
We are trying to raise funds for grassroots communities to attend the course, as well as a grant program for members of the Colombian ecovillage network.
In the following weeks we will start the rigorous program planing and I will be coordinating the world view dimension of the course.
The mentoring system for new ecovillage projects will be worked in conjunction with the board of the Colombian network and will imply a web platform and ready to go mentors.
The process of producing the 4 bio regional gatherings is being powered by a multilevel ensemble of teams, from a national coordination of 5 people to 4 regional coordination of 3 to 4 people to 4 event and councils facilitators teams of 10 people each.
At the end of the process we aim to produce a single unifying material of the 4 gatherings available on he web in an interactive and multimedia enriched style.
Finally, the sociological research of the interaction of the ecovillage network and other grassroots organizations and networks is being operated in conjunction with Marta Chavez, PhD student and some other co-researchers and helpers.
Bellow is a sample of the interviews formats to be used in the 4 bio regional gatherings by 4 sociologist hired for this purpose.
Interviews for 1st phase of PhD research
COFFE
Team: My business partner Norley Valencia, the ecovillage crew, my family and all my relations in the city.
On the plantation level we are going to experiment with liquid fertilizer prepared by ourselves and check reaction of the plants. Also we will increase the number of leguminous trees in the field.
On the transformation and processing aspect we want to make some modifications of our mill to gain quality of the grinding and train the local toaster to get the best flavor and aroma.
On the commercial aspect I will be presenting the coffee in different events, including the ecovillage gatherings. Also get a valuation from professional tasters. And advertise it via Internet.
The big piece here is to set up a system of distribution which is low carbon and low money demanding. I will prepare a strategy to schools so the students can serve as channels for the product to arrive to the homes.
I will set up some distribution points in the city and get professional advise from the business persons of my family.
