My Intro Video, Enjoy!
specification
In my previous year with Gaia University I had many adventures both personal and professional. During this period I focused on gaining an in depth practice in design both in the garden and with the built world. I designed projects in passive solar infrastructure, watershed management, greenhouse management and design and ecological education. Many of these projects were backed with a strong passion for permaculture. This year I would like to take my projects in a more community based direction, involving various communities around me to create ecologically centered projects. Followed is my description of these projects and how they are themed to give my capstone year comprehensive and cohesive outcomes.
This year will be focused on community and the built environment. It is very important to me and my outputting this year that I focus on creating projects that involve my community and to try to reach out to new ones; therefore my theme of flow will be as follows. Output packet 8, “Building with the community”, will encompass three building designs, two of which I will build by the end of the output. I set this project here so that I can work with my immediate community and to “get my toes wet” so to speak, into working with community on projects. Output 9 I am really excited for, “Horticultural Explorations”. This output is one I have been anticipating for a long time. This output, although not heavily involved with communities, will help me become more versed in those subjects I will base my following outputs on. Output 10, “ Propagating Community” is an output focused on the involvement, interaction and education of my communities into the world of annual horticultural propagation, both in the greenhouse and at home. This is an output I will use to reach out to my larger communities in an effort to explore the world of production nursery work, and to establish a position for myself as a person with horticultural knowledge in my community. Output 11 will be my career review in which I will recap the year through evaluations and intentional reflections. I will lightly describe this output at the end of this. As you can see I have my year quite full of the kinds of projects I can hopefully use to help my community evolve into a more resilient and thriving one.
