Plant Propagation

Picture Description

This is a book called Plant Propagation produced by Hartmann and Kester books. I will be studying it during this output packet to learn the "in's and out's" of plant propagation. This book was refered to me by my Uncle William Noel, Masters of Horticulture from Cal Poly Pamona. Alongside this books finite knowledge, I will be learning from an invaluable resource, a veteran horticulturist. May the propagating begin!

Output 4

Output 4, “Propagating Community”: for this output packet I will be focused on horticultural propagation. The intensive studying of horticulture in the previous output packet will prepare me for this. I am going to focus on various kinds of propagation including seeding, cloning and grafting.  This output period will take place between March 24th and April 25th. During the beginning of this output I will be creating the propagations of plants, these will mostly be popular annuals that I will be able to sell to my neighborhood. During this time period I will investigate how I can schedule a class where I can teach various propagation skills to the public, possibly at my own home and/or at a permaculture demonstration site located in the Sierra Nevada's in California. This output is directly related to my involvement in food systems and the public. This project is very interesting to me because it is the first project I have created like it. Working with the public, showing people about the care of plants and giving them the skills to do it on their own is something I have always loved doing. The things I have just explained are things I would possibly like to do in the future; which is why I have created this project.
