Professional: Gain correct knowledge I can then pass on to others. Be able to market myself to a larger audience through learning horticulture, the botany, morphology and physiology of plants.
Output 3
“Horticultural Explorations” is the name of my output 3. This output will be on the intensive studying of horticulture. I have always wanted to study horticulture in an intentional and intensive way, and now is the time for me to go after this goal. From February 23rd to March 23rd I will study horticulture both by myself and with the assistance of my uncle who holds a masters degree in horticulture from the California Polytechnic Institute. The intention of this output is to gain a greater knowledge of horticulture and to prepare for the next output involving production propagation. I will be reading from various books including Denis R Pittneger’s California Master Gardener Handbook, and Brian Capon’s Botany for Gardeners. Lessons will be structured as follows: pre-lesson work will be research on specific subject in horticulture, followed by an introduction and discussion of said subject, followed by a practicum in the garden or fieldtrip to other observational garden to explore said subject. This will be the theme of the course and will be subject to special changes should they arise. This is also a template that I may use to teach others I may educate in the future. This project is an investment of mine to develop myself into someone that can help localize food production in the future.
