Rex Costello

my name is Rex and I'm completing my bachelors of science in integrative eco-social design with Gaia U. I started my program in 2012 and will be finishing with my capstone phase by the end of 2017. My pathway centers primarily around my life and work as an artist, particularly focused on my musical journey since 2012. I integrate my pursuit of music as a career path with practices of self-care, community building, awareness practices, indigenous studies/practices, and various forms of self-expression such as dance & poetry. Originally from Catalina Island, I am currently living in Los Angeles, CA writing, recording, and performing with my band Ecstatic Union while expanding my musical, creative, and professional horizons.

Aloha fellow Gaians, my name is Rex and I am here to inspire the flowering of love, freedom, and inspiration in the hearts of all my relations. To help implement models of education that emphasize embodied expression, personal empowerment, earth/cosmic wisdom, and the exploration of universal consciousness through art, music, dance, celebration, embodied awareness practice, communication, and co-creation. I have been compiling and completing music I have written in the recent past with the intention to co-create a sonic collage of soul songs in the form of an album to share with my fellow earth community. Some areas of focus I am currently inspired by are sound, music, and harmonic geometry as a tool for meditation and healing. The study of large and small scale permaculture as a tool of empowerment to reconnect humanity with mother earth, our own hearts, and all of life through a grounded and embodied understanding of living systems. Research and integration of various indigenous wisdom modalities into my daily life and meditation practices. I am cultivating my personal yoga practice and refining of my body temple through asana, ecstatic dance, chi gong/thai chi, massage, and energy work.
