Strategic Goals

Goals for my learning area "education":

  • gain first experience in teaching/facilitation
  • research about teaching and learning methods (group processes)
  • find a way which allows pupils to learn self-directed (in groups, by themselves)

Introduction

School project: "We move the world"

As a part of WAVE (the worlds largest electric vehicle rally) a local school in the surroundings participated in the WAVE project for schools. The purpose of this project is that the pupils become informed about climate change and write their own commitment card in the end, which shows their personal contribution to stop global warming. These commitment cards are glued on a poster. Because the community "Lebensgarten Steyerberg" has the the oldest solar powered electric car sharing station in Germany one of the stops of the rally is here. A car from the rally is sent to the school to pick up the commitment posters and will transport them to the United Nations in Geneva. There the posters will be laid out to create a powerful message and a  world record. The mosaic of posters will be photographed by a drone and each child will be able to find its own commitment card again in the internet.

As an assisting "teacher" I had the task to make the pupils understand why it is important to write an environmental commitment by informing them about the worlds current situation. Actually Sylke was the responsible person but did not provide content. With this project I really had the feeling that I am contributing to a bigger "world change" because the message behind the WAVE is huge.

Student workshop: Sustainable community

Thirteen students from different disciplines, who all visit the class "Sustainable Community", wanted to experience community in real. Therefore we organized a three-day-workshop, rich in experience. The purpose was to let them experience what community actually means and show them what ideals people in this community have, what they endeavour and what works or works not.

As facilitators of the group we provided some content and assisted the group in their group process.

Peer:

  • being a peer to the pupils as well as to the students
  • being together with experienced teachers
