Intro + OP Goals
Welcome to my third Output Packet. In this report I will be focusing on revealing the process of designing, completing, and distributing my first full-length album Sundog. I will discuss the technical aspects of recording engineering, as well as the dynamics of post-production, creative collaboration, marketing, and emerging paradigms of media and musicianship in relation to cultural evolution. I am writing this Output as a process reflection as well as a manifesto of sorts to voice my love for music and the role I feel it has to play in the greater evolutionary journey of humanity. Another key intention for this report is to give a simple step-by-step description and design, which shares with the world my process of recording an album. Of course this process will be unique to any individual that undertakes a similar journey. I simply wish to provide a trail map as a potential guide to aid you on your sonic adventure. In this Output you will find:
- An overview of the recording process, work flow, resources, and the designs therein i.e. studio setup, equipment essentials, microphone placement, sound-space dynamics, mixing & mastering, Pro-Tools (digital recording software), song writing, time management, live sound learning curves, and creative exploration.
- The logistics of my personal experience with music marketing and distribution, along with an empowering emergent model of media, publishing, and conscious musicianship which I refer to as Integral Sonic Stewardship i.e. a model of music production and distribution which focuses on creating and promoting music that uplifts the consciousness of the planet.
- Reflections on the power of musical collaboration, descriptions and creative dynamics of key helpers and album participants, the significance of album art and design, and my personal experience, over the course of this process, with establishing and cultivating enriching mentor relationships through integrity, creativity, and authentic expression.
- A conclusive overview of the Sundog project and Output itself, listing essential insights, challenges, discoveries, un/learnings, and next steps in my ever-unfolding journey as a budding facilitator and channel of sonic love.
Design of This OP
This report is designed partly as a how-to manual for home recording as well as a documentation anaylsis of my own process. The core of this OP begins first as a design anaylasis and the basics of home recording, then transitions into further detail on other essential elements of creating SunDog. These elements include album art, musical collaborations, and a reflection on my overall project in relation to world context.
