Why Make an Album?

Recording an album is a valuable experience for anyone who wishes to share a feeling, spread a message, or tell a story through music. This is especially true for those whom feel called to share music beyond the regulations and corporate agenda imposed by the major record labels of the patrix. Instead, independent and DIY album creation and collaboration is becoming a platform for musicians to express themselves by means of an ever-expanding community of artists and supporters, primarily channeled through the internet, social events, and alternative media. On a more transpersonal level, completing an album can also be likened to an initiation of sorts, in which one undergoes an alchemical transformation through a journey and exploration of sound, cooking all of the components into a potent golden elixir of pure expression. This process could highly benefit our culture today as much of the world is lacking proper rites of passage for nearly every life transition.

Guild Notes

I shared my album with participants at a Gaia getherin I attended in October 2013. I did this by passing out my record as well as performing songs from the record live with my band during the graduation party. I receieved wonderful feedback from fellow Gaians and received phone calls after the event about how much a few of the participants loved the album.
