Key Outcomes for my PreCapstone Journey
I have grown radically this year in many ways
- Mental
-
- Design processes. An understanding that design is a structure within which I may improvise and that it is a neverending iterative process. AS implementation occurs, so too can evaluation leading to tweaking/redesigning. We keep getting a little closer to god.
- Action Learning Understanding of how I learn and a glimpse of ways I can grow by pushing my learning edges toward more Active Experimentation.
- Digital Literacy —Facility with navigating websites turning into inspiration to create my own. Gaining competence in using a myriad of digital applications to improve MTMP and artistic endeavours (iMovie, Aperture, Pages) and Presenting material (Keynote, Pages)
- Project Manager — Recognition of the importance of documentation, presentation, MTMP, GTD.
- Peer inspiration Learning that I love working in community and groups. I feel alive in human contact and do my best thinking while engaged. Huge value in the buddy system.
- Presentation of material (specifically Beekeeping, Cheesemaking, Solar Energy, Fermentation, Liam Portfolio/Resume/Website/PathwayIntentions)
- Physical -Treating my body with respect. Value in aerobic exercise, pushing it hard for a few minutes. Breathe
- Emotional — Deeper levels of acceptance and empathy. Recognition of the power of community and peer networks.
- Spiritual — The sangha is strong. Ask for help. Ask for what I want. Connection with plant medicine.
- Creative — A deepening awareness that I want the work that I do to fulfill me on all levels. I want to present myself in a way that feels in line with making beauty in the world. I did need to learn to cook before I could present beautiful plates and I feel like I am in the early stages of this as a both a designer and in the digital world.
Native Wheel
This wheel (from http://www.boomeryearbook.com/blog/category/current-events/page/2/)for me represents the many aspects of myself that I need to nurture and consider. This wheel serves as my reminder that despite having focused predominantly about mental growth this year, I value many aspects and ways of learning and expanding. In this learning review, I perhaps focus upon the mind; ironically, this precapstone year feels like a return to the mind for me after a couple of decades out of academia and exploring New Age communities focusing upon learning about my body (yoga, massage, nutrition), my heart (communication, lovers, community, goddess) my spirit (nature, god, Zen, meditation, Vipassana union). I am happy that I have had significant mental achievements this year and I also want to acknowledge that I find learning within all my dimensions ideal.
