Brainstorm of Learnings
ORGBADIE
I developed my own Design methodology incorporating the most salient features in my path toward creating this learning review project.
Observation of the Opportunity captures two essential O's from permaculture lexicon:
- I am taking the opportunity to review my Precapstone year at Gaia by observing my growth through many filters that Gaia has introduced including 5 P’s, self as learner and leader, reflecting on my LIPD
- Spending part of this hibernation winter reflecting on the growth I have undertaken during my PreCapstone year with Gaia
Research Information and Resources --
- LIPD
- Peers
- OP’s
- Journal entries
- Writings that I have done during TALC and during my advisor training
- TALC
Goals Articulation is key.
- Reflect and document major learnings inside and outside of GaiaU during my preCapstone year of my MSc
- Create an annotated resource collection of the year
- Use several lenses that Gaia has introduced to create an interesting narrative for these learnings
- Summarize the key un/learnings from my 5 major pre capstone OP’s
- Reflect upon and discuss attitude toward learning.
- Use the platform of this reflection to illustrate my growing competency as an action learner and in design.
- Create a website inspired by the learnings from this year and displaying my gaining digital proficiency.
Brainstorm
- Kolb Kite, 5 P’s, OP summaries, Zone 0, Pathway, LIPD, permaculture principles, GTD, MTMP,

Assess & Analyze
- What are the most functional tools as a learner of design
- I considered doing a single thread of my year as a learner/designer as a design process comparing each aspect of ORGBADIE to an aspect of my year; however, I felt that the filter/lens metaphor of displaying my learning from multiple perspectives, many of which I have learned and deepended this year, feels like the perfect design.
Design
- The template for reporting this OP is largely in place from Andrew’s T2. I am gratefu for that design and the wonderful questions he asks in each section. It feels like the writing of my experience is in response to a myriad of Andrew questions.
- For the Core Report, I considered several threads to weave the narrative and I ultimately chose filters/lenses on myself as learner to draw full circle from the LCR which stressed Liam as Learner and finished with the Hero’s Journey of what to return with to home.
Implement
- I’m doing it
Evaluate --
- REFLECTIONS with the commentary. . . and the self, peer and pro review. . . will help me shape my Capstone LIPD (What went well?, What was challenging?, What would I do differently next time?)
