1/13 Practice Advisory session with Laura

I worked on my OP 5 during my practice advisory session with Laura.  I had also happened to just review her OP 5 the previous month and thought she did a great job.  She used the term thread, which was new for me at the time, to encourage me to make the connections between all of my learnings.  I value this sense of what are the webs that create an interesting story out of everything.  I gained clarity around some of the major epochs in my year.  The distinction between "what" I have learned and "how" I have learned became much clearer.  The Advisor Training program, with the review of the TALC and many of the Gaia tools informed a large portion of my OP 5: Learning Review.  I see that beyond the concrete specific learnings that I have achieved/realized on this precapstone journey; the accompanying learning tools are perhaps the true gift that Gaia gives us.

Discussed my progression in OP5 as a learner.  I recognize that this year has yielded many great strengths and lessons for me, namely the most premiere is my recognition of self as a designer.  And the myriad tools I have attained as a learner.  As this OP draws to a close, I realize that the tools of learning are one of the greatest learnings I have had.

OP Support Call 1/20

I really enjoyed the OP support call.  Chattting with Simha working on his Learning Review illuminated some things for me.  I had been considering threads and it was nice to hear him casually remark he may use the 5P’s.  I had been thinking the same although I hadn't actually heard the term thread until my all with LAura (hmmmm).  I realize now that as a Literature major, developing these themes and connecting threads comes fairly naturally to me and that that is a good relationship between LitCrit and Design.

I enjoy talking with Gaia buddies as I'm doing the Learning Review.  I get very excited about how much I've learned this year coupled with the amount of documentation and intention going into recognizing what I have learned and what I hope to learn.   I see myself surprised over and over at all the gifts that Gaia has given to me.  I enrolled largely to have the structure of a community working toward learning and I have drastically shifted my view on myself as a learner.  I hope to implement many of the new strategies (most notably GTD, Just Do It and Active Experimentation) into my Capstone Journey.

It's been wonderful to begin to feel empowered to use the Advisor Forum.  The small advisor group has helped me feel a sense of continuity with a group.  My unique LoL and TALC  (preposterous and with me out of range during most of both) didn't provide for a tight knit network for me.  Nice to see that I become more engaged, it simply takes me some time at times.
