Output Learning Review
To constructively evaluate where I am on my learning pathway. I have completed the following:
- Output Learning review - this is my original output plan with an added column to illustrate my reflections on what I did learn.
- Learning Goals Reflection, see below.
- Personal Pathway Reflection - how I am feeling on my Gaia University journey & what life is teaching me.
- Output Process Reflection
Learning Goals Reflection
Learning Goals identified in Output Plan | Reflection & Re-design |
To be able to use CAD to produce professional designs/ | This process has revealed to be massively more involved than initial thoughts and has now become the focus of output 4. |
To undertake surveying techniques with confidence & accuracy & to be able to produce accurate drawings | Achieved via field mapping exercises. |
To improve research skills & data collection | Achieved via all the research undertaken for the output, this has also been re-designed for output 5. |
To internalize the permaculture design process | Definitely achieved, very empowered by this output process! |
To enhance my knowledge of permaculture & land use | Definitely achieved, has been a real process of working through 3 years of learning. Empowering to realise what I know but also overwhelming in exposing how much there is to learn! |
To expand my website design skills | Not really achieved however another website design can be added to my portfolio, useful plugins have been found. |
To improve my knowledge of horticulture | Has been achieved through my research & design notes however it has not been stretched as it may be in the near future while completing more detailed design work. |
To improve my species identification skills | Definitely achieved via creating the PASTE lists. |
Output Process Reflection Summary
What I have gained through this output process:
Personal: Massive sense of achievement, have definitely experienced an internalising of the design process, feel closer to mum & Ian, feel I am making our long term ambitious vision tangible and achievable. Personal productivity enhanced.
Professional: Hopefully impressive body of design work uploaded online including for my Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design portfolio.
Project: Design decisions made, implementation plan created, Brook End website.
What went well: Depth of the design process, productivity.
What was challenging: balancing computer work with garden work, processing the sheer volume of information for this output report.
Do differently: design more balanced indoor/outdoor tasks
