Obtain a Yield

The third principle of permaculture is 'obtain a yield'. The entire smallholding, both ecologically and socially is designed to obtain a yield, either through livelihood creation, via produce, propagated plants, events and courses to increased self-reliance at every level. I recognised the need to design for harvesting & processing strategies so that we can maximise the use of our produce and build our self reliance in the wake of rising food prices.

At Brook End we will be embracing the concept poly-livelihoods, attempting to have multiple income streams and a number of small business operating from Brook End will enhance our diversity, building our economic resilience. However it is our role in the community which is the greatest maker of our levels of resilience.

We also benefit from the yield of spiritual enrichment through our connection to the land. We aim to create positive feedback loops, with nature doing the work, so we can maximize the power of useful work.
